Basketballghana.com can confirm Serbian giant Red Star Belgrade KK Crevna Zvezda MTS Beograd has signed Ghanaian international Power Forward/ Small Forward Ben Bentil.
The announcement was made recently with the Serbian outfit confirming the news after Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg registered its interest in the 2016 NBA Draft 51st overall pick.
Fellow Ghana born former NBA player Amida Brimah had a brief stint in Serbia with Red Star’s biggest rival Partisan Belgrade four seasons ago.
Bentil joins Red Star after averaging 9.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists across 29 league games in the Italian Serie A while coming off the bench for the most part. He also averaged 5.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 23 Euroleague games as Milano bowed out in the quarterfinals.
He helped Milano win the Serie A title and Italian Cup last season despite playing eight games for Turkish League side Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul.
Bentil has won the Greek Cup and two Greek League titles in his career and has played in Spain and France aside a brief run in the NBA with Dallas Mavericks.
Red Star Belgrade won last season’s Serbian Basketball League and the Adriatic Basketball League but missed out on the Euroleague playoffs after finishing the regular season with 12 wins and 16 losses and ranking 11th in the 15 team standings.
