Ghanaian-American Center Selom Mawugbe played two out of three games for Golden State Warriors in the California Classic Summer League tournament but is yet to feature for the team in the bigger Las Vegas Summer League.
The Warriors have played three games ahead of its matchup against Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday, July 8 and the Warriors have a win and two losses.
6 foot 10 inch Mawugbe who has spent the past two seasons with Golden State’s affiliate side in the NBA Gatorade League (G-League) hasn’t competed in any of the games till date.
Not playing in such preseason games mainly for young players hurt his chances of making it to the main roster of the Warriors for the 2022-2023 NBA Season. In the California Classic, Mawugbe struggled with staying away from committing fouls.
He showed improvement in his second season with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League by averaging 7.6 points and 8.7 rebounds in 23 games, up from 5.3 points and 4.4 rebounds across 12 games in the 2020-2021 season.
