The maiden edition of the Basketball Honours list of award winners at the High School level was dominated by representatives from Ghana’s Central Region specifically the capital, Cape Coast. (Click highlighted text for full list of Award winners)
The Award scheme set up by RITE Sports Limited to honour individuals and organizations for their roles in developing basketball in Ghana was held on Friday, June 17 at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Headquarters.
Mfantsipim School bagged two Awards as the Best High School Boys Basketball Team and Best High School Basketball Coach (Male Division) via Isaac Kobina Mensah.
Aggrey Memorial Zion School walked with the Best High School Girls Basketball, Best High School Coach (Female Division) via Albert Davies and the Best Old Students Association (Female Division) Awards respectively.
Wesley Girls High School won the High School Most Iconic Moment in the Female Division; the team returned from a long hiatus to win its third Sprite Ball Championship title in 2016.
The event was well attended by representatives from various Corporate Bodies and Education Institutions. Boxing Legend Azumah Nelson was present at the ceremony; veteran Broadcaster Louis “Lexis Bill” Sakyiamah was the MC.
Rapper Edem and Comdeian DKB performed on the night.
