Ahead of the next window of 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification games, Basketballghana.com can confirm Rwanda’s National Men’s Basketball Team will compete in three friendly games.
The friendly games to be played later this month are to be used to gauge Rwanda’s preparedness for the upcoming list of games in the early days of July.
Rwanda is billed to play Uganda on June 22, Egypt on June 23 and Jordan on June 24; all three friendly games will take place in Cairo, Egypt.
Following the conclusion of games in the first window, Rwanda ranked bottom of Group B losing games to Tunisia, Cameroon and South Sudan.
The team is on the lookout for wins to progress to the next stage as one of the top three ranked teams in the Group. Rwanda’s national team is coached by Senegalese veteran trainer Cheikh Sarr.
The team is under pressure to perform in the wake of Rwanda’s representative at the 2022 Basketball Africa League, REG’s poor performance in the competition.
Rwanda’s BK Arena formerly Kigali Arena will host the July World Cup qualifiers.
