In the aftermath of the 2022 Basketball Africa League-BAL-the top performers in the just ended NBA-FIBA Africa continental tournament have been awarded.
Unsurprisingly, finalists in this year’s tournament, US Monastir and Petro de Luanda- had a higher number of representatives on the podium; Tunisia’s Monastir beat Angola’s Petro 83-72 to win the title after finishing second to Egypt’s Zamalek in the 2021 final.
Monastir’s Michael Andre Dixon and Ater Majok won the Most Valuable Player Award and Defensive Player of the Tournament Award. Jose Neto of Petro de Luanda was named Coach of the Tournament.
AS Sale-Morocco- Point Guard Terell Stoglin, Edgar Sosa of Zamalek, Carlos Morais of Petro, Majok and Radhouane Slimane of Monastir made it to the All-BAL First Team.
Majok made it to the All-Defensive Team with Childe Dundao and Aboubakar Gakou of Petro, Brice Eyaga of Cameroon’s FAP and Wilson Nshobozwabyosenumukiza of Rwanda’s REG.
Zamalek finished third in this year’s tournament and Center Anas Mahmoud won the Sportsmanship Award.
