Basketballghana.com can confirm Tunisian side US Moanstir will compete in the final game of the 2022 Basketball Africa League-BAL-after beating Egyptian side Zamalek in the semifinals.
Moanstir bagged an 88-81 win over the defending champions to set up a final game against Angola’s Petro de Luanda; the win ensured Monastir got revenge on Zamalek after losing the 2021 title to the Egyptian side. [Click highlighted text to watch game highlights]
Veteran Center Slimane Radhouane led Monastir with a sterling performance that generated 21 points, two rebounds, an assist and a block in 30 minutes.
Three other starters including Michael Dixon scored in double figures; Dixon registered 20 points and added four assists and two rebounds.
Mikh McKinney led all players in scoring with 26 points but his efforts weren’t enough to get Zamalek back into the final game. Zamalek’s highly rated Center Anas Mahmoud had a poor outing as he registered eight points, nine rebounds but five turnovers.
Zamalek will play FAP from Cameroon for third place later tonight with the final game slated to take place on Saturday, May 28. All games will be played at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda.
