Basketballghana.com can report US Monastir and Zamalek have qualified to the semifinals of the 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL). The two teams competed in the 2021 BAL Final game.
Egypt’s Zamalek beat South Africa’s Cape Town Tigers 66-49 while Tunisia’s US Monastir beat SLAC from Guinea 106-67 in the quarterfinals. All playoff games in the BAL will be played out at Kigali Arena. (Click highlighted text to watch game highlights)
Defending champion Zamalek remains unbeaten in the 2022 edition after playing six games in the NBA-FIBA Africa continental tournament.
Moustafa Kejo led all players in the game with 14 points; teammates DJ Strawberry and Edgar Sosa added 12 and 13 points respectively.
Debutant SLAC had three players register in double figures; Oumar Barry scored 13 points and Anthony Miller Jr. added 11 points as the Guinean side crashed out.
Michael Andre Dixon scored 23 points for Monastir while Cleanathony Early scored 15 points and Billy Preston scored 17 points for Cape Town Tigers. Early played in the NBA for New York Knicks.
Zamalek plays Monastir in the semifinals on May 25.
