Basketballghana.com can report Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Basketball Team has won the first of three planned exhibition games during its training camp in Istanbul, Turkey ahead of its participation in the 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Playoffs later this month.
This year’s BAL Playoffs are scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda from May 22 to May 28 with eight qualified teams representing eight African nations ready to compete for the title of the NBA-FIBA Africa competition.
REG beat a select side from Kuwait 77-67 on Wednesday, May 11 in Turkey and takes on Bahrain and Qatar on May 12 and May 13 respectively.
The training camp exercise in the European nation is to aid REG’s preparations for the playoffs where it takes on FAP from Cameroon in the first round in the single elimination game.
REG topped the Sahara Conference standings with four wins in five games earlier this year and its first round opponent finished in fourth place in the Nile Conference six team standings.
