Basketballghana.com can report 2021 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Champions Zamalek has missed out on progressing to the Final Game Series of the Egyptian Basketball League.
This comes on the back of the White Knights getting swept 3-0 in its best of five game series against Al-Ittihad in the semifinals. Al-Ittihad is set to play Al-Ahly in the final also in a best of five game series beginning Sunday, May 8.
Zamalek lost the decisive Game Three 59-79 despite the top efforts of Edgar Sosa and Moustafa Kijo who bagged 15 points and 19 points respectively in the contest. Kijo added 10 rebounds to his scoring tally.
Aside Sosa and Kijo no Zamalek player scored in double figures which was sharply different from Al-Ittihad that had five players score in double figures with Corey Webster and Bebo bagging 14 points apiece.
After qualifying to the quarter final stage of the 2022 BAL with an unbeaten record in five games, Zamalek disappointed on its return to domestic action.
The team is set to defend the continental title in Kigali, Rwanda come May 22; the competition ends on May 28.
