Basketballghana.com can confirm competition in the 2022 Volta Basketball League will commence on Saturday, April 30 in the latest regional basketball league competition to tip off this year in the aftermath of the COVID 19 pandemic that wrecked local competitions in the West African nation.
The opening game has Akatsi Rifles taking on Aftown Flames at 13:00 GMT at the Akatsi Main Court in Ghana’s Volta Region. Rifles are easily the most popular team in the league largely thanks to its involvement in the Tema Basketball League.
Ghana’s biggest basketball portal gathers cultural displays will accompany the opening ceremony to usher in the new season. The league is organized under the auspices of the Volta Basketball Association (VOBBA).
In the lead up to the start of the league, a basketball clinic involving youngsters was organized at the regional capital, Ho recently with support from the National Sports Authority regional branch.
Head Coach of Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II side Icons Basketball Club James Ocloo was present at the Clinic.
