2021 Basketball Africa League (BAL) Champions Zamalek has ended on top of the Nile Conference standings of the 2022 BAL after ending the second phase of games at the group stage with an unbeaten record.
Zamalek won all five games including the Conference game against FAP from Cameroon on the back of a 77-63 win. Zamalek leads four teams from the Conference into the quarterfinal or elite eight stage of the NBA-FIBA Africa continental competition to be played in Kigali, Rwanda in May. Despite crashing out of the competition after failing to progress beyond the Conference stage, DR Congo’s Espoir Fukash got its first win in the history of the BAL by recording a 96-92 win over Cape Town Tigers. (Click highlighted text to watch game highlights)
Zamalek’s Edgar Sosa won the MVP Award in the game against FAP after registering 27 points, two rebounds and two assists in the 14 point win.
Fukash’s Rolly Nganga dropped a near double double performance of 29 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the team’s encouraging win over fellow BAL debutant Cape Town Tigers.
