Before going on a four game winning streak, Santa Cruza Warriors ranked 12th in the 13 team Western Conference standings in the NBA Gatorade League (G-League) but occupies the ninth spot presently.
Should the team clinch a win in its final 2021-2022 Regular Season game against Austin Spurs, Warriors could move up to seventh place in the standings to close out the season.
American-Ghanaian Center Selom Mawugbe has been instrumental in Santa Cruz’s late season upturn in form that has resulted in four straight wins.
Warriors beat bottom ranked Salt Lake City Stars 118-115 in its latest outing and Mawugbe delivered 10 points, 14 rebounds, two blocked shots, a steal and an assist in 32 minutes. (Click highlighted text to watch game highlights)
Mawugbe led the game in the blocks and rebound categories in a very efficient performance as he scored all four field goal attempts. The season finale is on April 1 against Spurs with Warriors playoff chances over despite the upturn in form.
This is Mawugbe’s second season competing in the G League and both seasons have come with the Warriors.
