Basketballghana.com can confirm Italian side Olimpia Milano has booked its place in the next phase of competition in the 2021-2022 Euroleague Basketball Championship.
The team clinched its spot in the next stage after recording an 84-77 win over German side Bayern Munich on March 29 which was Milano and Ghana Power Forward Ben Bentil’s 27th Birthday. (Click highlighted text to read tweet)
Bentil played a bit part role in the seven point win registering two rebounds in 6:48 minutes off the bench with a rebound coming on either end of the court.
Beating Bayern keeps Milano in third place in the 15 team standings with 18 wins and eight losses in 26 games played thus far in the regular season of the continental championship. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season progress to the playoffs.
The win also ensures Milano will have home court advantage in the playoff phase of the tournament; Milano trails only second ranked Real Madrid and top ranked Barcelona in the standings.
Bentil is competing in his first season with Milano but has experience playing in the Euroleague after his two year run at Greek side Panathinaikos.
