After winning the Ivy League Basketball Tournament to earn automatic qualification to the US Men’s College Basketball National Tournament popularly known as March Madness, Yale University has exited the tourney.
This follows a 56-78 loss to Purdue University in the first round of the National Championship Tournament; Ghana Forward Yussif Basa-Ama played for Yale.
The second year player and native of Bolgatanga in Ghana’s Upper East Region played just two minutes off the bench late in the 16 point loss and registered a blocked shot while attempting no shot in his cameo appearance.
The onset of the corona virus pandemic wiped out Basa-Ama’s freshman year in College; in the 2021-2022 season, the 6 foot 8 inch player averaged 2.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in 8.9 minutes across 22 games while attempting 36 field goal shots and converting 22.
Purdue University will compete at the Round of 16 stage against St. Peter’s University on Friday, March 25; Ghana Center Emmanuel Dowuona spent three seasons at Purdue before transferring to Tennessee State University.
