Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) Treasurer Aurora Commodore-Toppar has donated basketball items to her Alma Mater, Aburi Girls Senior High School.
The items presented to the All Girls High School in Ghana’s Eastern region include six basketballs and three nets Basketballghana.com can report.
Rims on the school’s court have been without nets for a while and the items will come in handy as preparations ramp up for a return to full scale participation in sports activities in High Schools in Ghana.
Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, participation in school sports was banned but with vaccination programs on the rise and the number of reported cases leveling out and in some cases falling, the ban is set to be lifted.
Commodore-Toppar stepped into the role of GBBA Treasurer in the final quarter of 2021 following a successful campaign and election into office on the ticket of then GBBA Presidential Candidate Ato Van-Ess.
Aburi Girls Senior High has fallen behind contemporaries like Methodist Girls Senior High School-Mamfe in recent years as a consistent representative of the region at Ghana’s biggest High School Basketball competition-Sprite Ball Expressions.
The donated items should help ABUGISS become a top regional contender again.
