Earlier today at the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Court, TTU Oilers recorded its first win in the 2022 Western Basketball Association League.
The Oilers beat Oil City Kings 47-27 in the second of a two game schedule on Day One of the new season. Eff-Ess Academy recorded a 31-20 win over Lighters Basketball Club; both games were played with a running time.

TTU’s Ibrahim Jafaro and Desmond Amponsah scored three pointers respectively and Samuel Abakah completed a three point play with Mustapha Ahmed doing same. Kings struggled to score in the quarter.
Kings Guard Alfred Kuwornu ended the team’s scoring drought by draining a jumper and Felix Addo blocked Abakah’s shot. TTU led 18-4 at the end of the first quarter.
Kevin Morrison completed a three point play; John Agyeman added a tear drop layup and a three pointer to get Kings off to a strong start in the second quarter. Philips Arkhurst got a corner three pointer for TTU. TTU’s Sergio Adams scored six points in the second quarter to give TTU a 27-13 lead.
Jafaro scored a three pointer and added a layup to open the third quarter. Amponsah drove hard to the basket to lay the ball in and extent his team’s lead. Kings’ Raymond Ahadzi delivered a beautiful bounce pass for Steve Armah to score. Kings trailed 18-36 at the end of the quarter.
Emmanuel Sagoe drove to the basket to score on a layup as did Jafaro. Kings got points from the free throw line through Morrison and Ican Mensah. Adams completed a three point play and Amponsah buried a jumper to close out the game.
