Prior to this past weekend’s game in the Romanian Basketball League, American-Ghanaian Small Forward/ Shooting Guard Bashir Ahmed had been on a scoring tear; however, that brilliant run of scoring form has come to an end.
Targu Jiu beat Galati 77-72 in Round 25 games of the 2021-2022 Regular Season to end a five game losing streak and improve its record for the season; the team has six wins and 17 losses.
Bashir Ahmed played 10 minutes off the bench in the win and registered four points, a steal, two rebounds and two assists. Ahmed’s teammate KenDarius Hamilton top scored in the game with 20 points.
He registered 21 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a 67-86 loss to Craiova in a prior game.
Ahmed attempted three shots in the game and converted one attempt; both of his misses came from three point range. He scored all two free throw attempts.
Former St. John’s University player Ahmed, is averaging 11.8 points, 4.3 and 1.1 assists in his first season with the club. He has played in Hungary, Argentina and Croatia in his professional career.
