Basketballghana.com can confirm San Diego State University Men’s Basketball Team will play against Creighton University in the first stage of the US National Men’s Basketball Championship tournament.
The announcement was made recently when automatically qualified teams were seeded ahead of the start of this year’s competition. Ghana Center Nathan Mensah is set to start for San Diego State.
Meeting Creighton on Thursday, March 17 at Fort Worth in Texas, a win puts San Diego State up against the winner of the University of Kansas-Texas Southern University/Texas A&M matchup in the next round.
Despite missing out on winning the Mountain West Conference title for a second year in a row due to a 52-53 loss to Boise State University, San Diego State is a strong side that could pull off a surprise in the competition nicknamed “March Madness”.
In the Conference final loss to Boise State, Mensah registered four points, 10 rebounds, four blocks, an assist and a steal. He was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year at Conference Media Awards. (Click highlighted text to watch game highlights)
