Basketballghana.com can confirm nine teams will compete in the 2022 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division Regular Season.
The new season is set to commence on Tuesday, March 8 and a press launch of the upcoming season is scheduled to be held at the De’lish Restaurant on Friday, March 4 at 10:00 GMT. (Click highlighted text to read more on press conference)
The number of competing teams for the new campaign has dropped from the 2021 season that had 10 teams compete in the regular season.
Reports reaching Ghana’s biggest basketball portal indicate Basketball School Academy (BSA) did not register to compete in the 2022 League season.
BSA made its debut in the ABL last season; the 2021 campaign was played out over a shorter than usual period due to the league carrying out its mandatory COVID 19 vaccination and other challenges related to the pandemic.
Ghana Police Service beat Reformers of Prisons (2-1 in the best of three game series) to clinch its second title in a row.
The top four teams progress to the playoffs where the top seeded team plays the fourth seeded team and the second seed plays the third seed. Standings in the regular season is to be determined via all play all format on home and away basis.
