Basketballghana.com can confirm Olimpia Milano has won the 2021-2022 Italian Basketball Cup title; the title is Milano’s eighth title in the competition’s history.
Ghana Forward Ben Bentil played for Milano in the final that had Olimpia beat Tortona 78-61; Bentil played 16 minutes and produced seven points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal in the low scoring contest.
Bentil won last season’s Greek Basketball Cup title in the last of his two season stay at Panathinaikos; he played his debut season in Greece for Peristeri.
The 6 foot 8 inch former Providence College player is the first Ghana born player to play in the NBA and was drafted into the NBA 51st overall in 2016.
The Sekondi native scored all four free throws and converted a shot from three point range to round up his scoring tally in the final; he did miss his sole two point shot attempt
This is Bentil’s debut season in Italy and Milano and is on course to repeat a Cup and league title double with Milano a strong favourite to translate its league leading form into the playoffs.
Bentil won the 2020-2021 Greek Cup and Greek League title at Panathinaikos before moving to Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul in Turkey then Milano in the present campaign.
