Basketballghana.com can confirm Nigeria’s National Women’s Basketball Team (D’Tigress) is the sole representative for Africa at the upcoming FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

The 2022 World Cup is to be held in Australia from September 22 to October 1 with 12 teams representing 12 nations due to compete in the tournament has the United States of America as defending champions.

Nigeria booked its place in the World Cup for the second time in a row thanks to recording two wins out of three games in Group B of the special qualifying tournament held in Belgrade, Serbia.

The West African nation recorded a remarkable come from behind 69-67 win over France and beat Mali 73-69 to qualify to Australia. The team did lose to China in the first qualifier and Guard Ezinne Kalu put that loss on D’Tigress first time playing together since winning its third straight AfroBasket in 2021.
