American-Ghanaian Forward Bashir Ahmed missed all three point shots attempts but ended up leading Targu Jiu in the scoring category in the team’s latest loss.
Jiu lost 56-80 to Timisoara in Round 20 of the 2021-2022 Romanian Basketball League Regular Season; Ahmed led the way for Targu with 16 points, seven rebounds and a steal in 25 minutes off the bench.
The former St. John’s University Forward who can play as a Shooting Guard missed all three attempts from three point range but converted five of 11 two point shot attempts. He scored six of eight free throw attempts in the contest.
He was one of only two players on the Targu Jiu roster to score in double figures; Ken’Darrius Hamilton was the sole double digit scorer for Targu with 12 points. It was the first game for the team since losing Forward Kevin Allen who has left the team.
Targu Jiu remains in 13th place in the 16 team league standings.
