Basketballghana.com can confirm the draw for the 2022 edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) has been conducted and the 12 qualified teams in the continental tournament have been placed into various groups.
The participating teams have been drawn into two groups with each group having six teams; teams have been drawn into the Sahara Conference and Nile Conference.
Games involving teams in the Sahara Conference are slated to be played from March 5 to March 15 at the Dakar Arena in Senegal while games involving teams in the Nile Conference are slated to be played from April 9 to April 19 at the Hassan Mostafa Complex in Cairo, Egypt.
The top two teams from each conference progress to the Final Four stage where games are to be played at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda from May 21 to May 28.
This format was expected to roll for the maiden edition of the FIBA Africa-NBA competition but the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic forced organizers to see out the competition in a bubble in Rwanda.
Egyptian side Zamalek won the maiden edition in 2021. Below is a full breakdown of the Conferences:
