Basketballghana.com can confirm former NBA All Star Joakim Noah has visited Cameroonian side FA Police as the team prepares to compete in the 2022 Basketball Africa League (BAL).
This year’s BAL is due to run from March 5 to May 28 with games involving 12 qualified teams to be played in Dakar, (Senegal), Cairo (Egypt) and Kigali, (Rwanda).
The upcoming edition of the FIBA Africa-NBA tournament is the second in the competition’s history and FAP has qualified to compete in both editions.
Noah’s presence at the camp was to motivate the Yaounde based team ahead of the continental tournament; FAP finished seventh overall in the 2021 edition with a win and three losses in four games.
The 2021 BAL was played in a bubble at the Kigali Arena due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and was won by Egyptian side Zamalek.
Noah won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award during his run with the Chicago Bulls; he also played for Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks in his 13 year career.
Noah’s is of Cameroonian descent.
