Basketballghana.com can confirm the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) will hold its long awaited elections in Benin City on Monday, January 31.

Ahead of the elections that has been bedeviled with sharp accusations from deeply divided camps, the incumbent NBBF Chairman Musa Kida has highlighted his achievements during his time as Chairman from 2017 to 2021. (Click highlighted text to read story)

Among the list of items he touched on included Nigeria’s Men’s and Women’s 3×3 Basketball Teams winning Bronze and Gold medals at the 2019 African Games in Morocco and Nigeria’s Men’s Basketball Team competing at the 2019 World Cup and 2020 Olympics with D’Tigers appearance at the Tokyo Games being its third appearance in a row.

However, the standout item in his speech was the achievement of the country’s National Women’s Basketball Team that recently won its third African Championship title in a row.

Nigeria beat Mali 70-59 in the 2021 Women’s AfroBasket final months after representing the continent at the Tokyo Games.

However, Kida’s administration had had several challenges including the Federation’s failure to organize the league that has resulted in a Nigerian club failing to pick up the automatic slot in the 2022 Basketball Africa League. (Click highlighted text to read story)
