Ghana Center Joel Mensah has put up one of his better performances in his first season with California State University-San Marcos Men’s Basketball Team despite suffering a 64-74 overtime loss to California State University-San Bernardino in the derby.
Mensah registered 12 points, three rebounds and two blocks in 28 minutes as a starter in his eighth game since joining the team prior to the start of the season. His overall performance would have been way better had he not turned the ball over five times in the game.
He was the only San Marcos player to score in double figures aside Greg Milton III who scored 33 points to lead all players in scoring.
The loss is San Marcos’first of the season in 14 games; at least three scheduled games for the team has been either cancelled or postponed due to COVID 19 related issues.
After transferring from San Diego State University and James Madison University, the 6 foot 11 inch Mensah is averaging 6.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 14.9 minutes.
