Basketballghana.com can confirm the Ashanti Regional leg of the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA)-Lithuania Basketball Federation (LBF)/ International Basketball University (IBU) Tour is scheduled for Tuesday, January 17.

The upcoming trip forms part of the GBBA’s Memorandum of Understanding with the LBF to assess the state of basketball in Ghana and provide solutions to address the myriad of issues affecting the sport.

The Touring Team is led by LBF Representative Jonas Vainauskas, IBU West Africa Director Richard Borsah and GBBA Vice President (Administration and Finance) Alex Kukula.

Visiting the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, represents the conclusion of the tour of Ghana’s southern sector. The second part will commence in February in locations in the Northern Sector of the West African nation.

Similar visits have been made by the team to Takoradi and Cape Coast beyond Accra since Vainauskas arrival on January 11. An exhibition game is to be played in Kumasi featuring top players from the region and outstanding players get the chance to be roped into the pool of players touted to make the initial team of the National Basketball Team.
