International Basketball University (IBU) African Director Richard Borsah has stated Ghana has lost out on developing basketball for so many years.
He said this in his speech when the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) –Lithuania Basketball Federation (LBF) and IBU Team visited the University of Cape Coast (UCC) earlier today.
At the meeting, Borsah said, “We’ve lost out on too many years of development of the game. The ideas that we have had over the years have not helped us in any way so hopefully somebody (LBF) is bringing a system that has worked in various big big countries and probably change the course of the situation.”
Jonas Vainauskas is the LBF Representative on the Team that has GBBA Vice President (Administration and Finance) Alex Kukula on it.
Today’s meeting was conducted in the presence of UCC’s School of Health and Allied Sciences Dean Professor Desmond Omane Acheampong and National Sports Authority Central; Regional Director Alexander Tieku and Central Regional Basketball Association Organizing Secretary Noble Tandoh.
The visit formed part of the team’s Central Region leg of a four city tour in Ghana’s southern sector in the first part of assessment of the state of basketball in the West African nation.
The GBBA is undertaking the project with the direct support of the world leading LBF in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two bodies and the IBU in December 2021.
