Basketballghana.com can report Dr. Andre Kwasi-Kumah has been elected as the Basketball Association Chairman for the Volta and Oti Regions in Ghana.

His victory was confirmed in the recently held elections in the Volta Capital, Ho; the win means Dr. Kwasi-Kumah gets to assume the responsibilities and role he served prior to his resignation as Chairman to contest for the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) Presidential seat.

Dr. Kwasi-Kumah missed out on the top seat to Ato Van-Ess in the race to replace David Addo-Ashong as the President of the GBBA after a little over a decade run as President.

According to outlet 24hourssports, Dr. Kwasi-Kumah highlighted the importance of stakeholders working together to develop the sport in the hitherto Volta Region before outlining the first issue he plans to address.

“The priority is to make sure we get our own referees so that we don’t have to be bringing referees from Accra so the number one priority is to get our own referees, get them well versed in the rules and regulations of basketball and then start our league” he said.

Dr. Kwasi-Kumah doubles as Team Patron of Akpini Snipers based in Kpando.
