Jonas Vainauakas, Lithuania Basketball Federation’s (LBF) Representative of the Federation’s official visit to Ghana, has stated a proposal has been made to the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) to organize an Africa Basketball Forum.

He said this during his speech at the Press Conference organized to acknowledge the LBF’s visit to Ghana to kick start a series of activities detailed in a Memorandum of Understanding signed in December, 2021.

Speaking at the Conference, he added a platform for top personalities in the sport especially on the continent need to be assembled in Ghana as part of activities to improve the sport.

We-LBF-have proposed to our colleagues here in Ghana to organize Africa Basketball Forum so professionals in coaching and management could come here to Ghana and share their expertise and also the GBBA could invite their friends in other African Federations… we had quite a lot of success organizing it in China” he said.

An official assessment of the state of basketball in Ghana would be made with the appropriate solutions to be discussed after Vainauskas concludes a four day tour of facilities and basketball teams in different parts of Ghana.
