One of Ghana’s brightest basketball prospects Nathan Mensah is on the verge of moving into third place in the Blocks statistical category on San Diego State University Men’s Basketball Team all time list.
The native of Accra is one block shy of tying Malcolm Thomas’s record of 127 blocks overall; Thomas is third on the University’s All time list with 127 with Mensah on 126.
The 6 foot 10 inch defender registered his 126th block in his San Diego career in a 78-57 win over University of California-San Diego recently.
In the win, Mensah registered 19 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in 27 minutes as the starting Center; he led all players in scoring in the game. (Click highlighted text to watch game highlights)
San Diego State’s all time blocks record holder is Skylar Spencer who has 303 blocks to his name with Leonard Allen in second place with Leonard Allen on 214.
Mensah gets the chance to move past Thomas when San Diego State plays University of Nevada-Las Vegas on January 1, 2022.
Mensah is averaging 8.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 25.9 minutes this season.
