Ghana needs to produce more female basketball players according to Charm Basketball Academy Head Coach Ernest “Oxy” Koomson who is an avid supporter of female basketball.
He said this in an exclusive chat with Basketballghana.com after guiding Charm’s Female Team to a shock 39-30 win over Basketball School Academy (BSA). BSA recently wrapped up competing in the Accra Basketball League Women’s Division.
The two teams competed in an exhibition game prior to the final of the Waterpark Sports Invitational (WPSI) Basketball Tournament that concluded on Wednesday, December 22 at the DUNK Court in Jamestown in Accra.
“We need to promote female basketball in the country we don’t have to sleep on the talent that we have it’s been going waste and this is the time that we have to focus on female basketball because we have a lot of talents in the country that if we polish them they can get somewhere and be successful” he said.
Galaxy Basketball Academy beat University of Ghana 52-42 to win the first WPSI Tournament title; Charm’s Male team was one of six teams that competed in the tournament.
