Rafiq Brimah attempts three point shot in Final Game

Basketballghana.com can report Galaxy Basketball Aacademy Guard Raymond Affram has won the Most Valuable Player Award at the Waterpark Sports Invitational (WPSI) Basketball Tournament.

The young Guard becomes the first player to win the Award with the first edition of the WPSI Tourney concluding on Wednesday, December 22 at the DUNK Court in Jamestown, in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

Affram played an instrumental role in the team 52-42 win over University of Ghana (UG) in the final gam and a 42-22 win over Cedar Oak Basketball Academy in the semifinals.

The WPSI Tournament was organized by Ghanaian sports apparel company Waterpark and hosted six male teams in the Greater Accra region over a three day period. An exhibition game between female players of Basketball School Academy and Charm Basketball Academy was played out on the final day.

Affram and Galaxy’s plethora of Guards including Divine Quartey and Rafiq Brimah deployed an aggressive trap defence that forced UG to turn the ball over several times; Galaxy capitalized by turning the giveaways into points to take a 42-22 lead into the fourth quarter. Earlier in the year, Galaxy competed in the finals of the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II.
