Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) President Ato Van-Ess has expressed his desire to have several basketball courts scattered all over Ghana.
He expressed this feeling during his speech at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Ghana’s capital, Accra during the GBBA’s stakeholders Dinner Gala.
The veteran Administrator listed a handful of key areas that his Association plans to tackle to exponentially grow the sport of basketball in the West African nation.
Identifying the provision of basketball in communities and not just educational institutions-a common practice in Ghana- he indicated solving such an issue is key to promote basketball popularity in the football/soccer laden nation.
“Before we promote basketball, we have to put a basketball court in communities. Every space demands a basketball court’ he said and pointed to a an extensive plan to have 3×3 Basketball-a miniature form of the sport-played in large unoccupied spaces beneath Ghana’s major highways ultimately climaxing in an indoor facility down the line.
The Van-Ess led GBBA Executives got voted into office on October 30, 2021.

I Just discovered an empty land at Kokomeelmele.
A basketball court can also be built there. The game will also bring people together in the community.
