Lithuanian Basketball Federation Secretary General Mindaugas Balciunas has Ghana out as the perfect place to start basketball development in Africa for the Federation.

He said this via a recorded video played during the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) Dinner Gala at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Ghana’s capital, Accra. (Click highlighted text to watch video)

The statement was put out in response to the highlight of the night; the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two associations with the European nation’s Federation expected to share some of the knowledge that has turned Lithuania into a basketball powerhouse.

“We can help to develop more basketball talents in your country and Ghana is also a big opportunity for us for globalizing our activities because Lithuanian Basketball Federation is looking for having more activities outside of Europe, outside of our country and Ghana is the perfect place to start out in Africa” Balciunas who doubles as Director of the International Basketball University said.

GBBA President Ato Van-Ess, Vice President (Administration and Finance) Alex Kukula, Vice President (Technical and Development Programs) Idrissu Ayambire, Treasurer Aurora Commodore-Toppar and Secretary General Rafiq Arthur at the ceremony.

An MoU between the GBBA and International Basketball University (IBU) was also signed with IBU’s representative in Ghana, Richard Borsah on the night.
