Basketballghana.com can confirm the OMICRON Variant of the Corona Virus has been detected in Ghana with the Ghanaian government officially stating so.
This comes mere hours after the 2021 Sprite Ball Xpressions was suspended due to the discovery and emergence of the virus in Africa and other countries on other continents.
At the time of writing, two infections have been detected in Ghana while detections have been reported in Botswana, South Africa, Israel, Germany, Italy and Germany.
The Sprite Ball Xpressions was suspended over direct concerns for the safety of individuals and groups that patronize the popular event formerly known as Sprite Ball Championship.
The name change was down to the addition of music to the main activity of the event that was mainly about basketball at the High School level.
However, the 15th edition of the event that was planned to climax on December 24 at the Aviation Social Center had a different format as teams were expected to represent communities and not High Schools.
