Basketballghana.com can confirm the 2021 Sprite Ball Xpressions Event has been suspended due to the discovery and spread of the COVID 19 Omicron Variant.

The suspension was announced via an official statement released by organizers of the event, RITE Sports Limited, in tandem with headline sponsor (Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana) of the anticipated program.

The decision to suspend the event is down to Coca Cola Bottling Company of Ghana’s informed measures to ensure the safety of customers and thousands of individuals and bodies that patronize the event that hitherto was known as Sprite Ball Championship.

Suspending the event prevents the possibility of the event as a hot spot medium of spread of the variant though Ghana is yet to official announce the detection of the virus variant in the country.

Omicron Variant of the Corona Virus was recently discovered in South Africa and has been detected in several countries in the world including Botswana, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Israel and Hong Kong.

The name change from Sprite Ball to Sprite Ball Xpressions was down to the addition of music to the core activity of the program that was set to host its 15th edition.
