Cedar Oak Basketball Academy Coach Albert Ato Sam has pointed out it is a luxury for coaches to get the chance to coach more talented players than they would have.
In an interview with Basketballghana.com on the sidelines of the official launch of the Sprite Ball Xpressions, Coach Sam made the statement in response to a question regarding the changed format of the Sprite Ball Xpressions.
The celebrated Sprite Ball Championship is now known as Sprite Ball Xpressions; the new competition combines basketball and music competition.
For this year’s Sprite Ball Xpressions, players won’t compete for High Schools at the regional and national levels but will represent regions at the national level.
Six regions-Western, Volta, Central, Greater Accra, Ashanti, Eastern-will have teams compete at the national competition on December 24 at the Aviation Social Center. Coach Sam will lead the Greater Accra Region.
“I would have loved to see my school (PRESEC-Legon) represent the school and win but this one is good because it also gives us the luxury to have all these other boys they have been very envious to have in our school” he said. (CLICK HIGHLIGHTED TEXT TO WATCH FULL INTERVIEW)
Young players will form four teams representing communities at the regional level and the top players are picked to form the regional team.
