PRESS STATEMENT TO ALL MEDIA HOUSES
LAUNCH OF SPRITE BALL XPRESSIONS
Due to lingering effects of the COVID 19 pandemic, the 2021 edition of Sprite Ball has a changed format hence the new name Sprite Ball Xpressions. The change highlights the focus of this year’s competition- Basketball and Music.
Sprite Ball Xpressions is to be launched at a press conference on Wednesday, November 24 at De’lish Restaurant at Okponglo at 10:00 GMT.
This change reflects RITE Sports desire to use its platforms to promote sports and creative talents in tandem with partner Coca-Cola Company Ghana. The latest edition of the anticipated event takes place in December.
Basketball Qualifiers and the Virtual Music Competition take place in six regions-Ashanti, Central, Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, Western. Four young teams representing communities in the various regions compete in such qualifiers and the top players get picked to represent the region at the national event on December 24.
In the Virtual Music Competition, Students upload a 30 second video to Twitter and Instagram showing their music skills. A panel of judges selects the best contestants for the next stage. Selected contestants upload a 60 seconds video to Twitter and Instagram and fans vote for their favourite contestants to represent the region at the national event.
Two students represent each of the abovementioned regions at the Final at the Aviation Social Center where fans’ votes and select judges’ score on live contestant performances determine the winner.
RITE Sports is a Sports Event promotion company that is responsible for organizing award winning events like Azumah Nelson Fight Night and Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
