This year’s Sprite Ball is to be competed along regional lines this year substituting the popular scheme that involves High Schools battling for the most prestigious High School Basketball competition in the West African nation. (Click highlighted text towatch preview)
Six regions-Ashanti, Western, Central, Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta-are expected to have representative’s teams to compete at the national level in the nation’s capital, Accra next month.
Four teams drawn from communities will compete at the various regional levels and the top players will form a team to represent the region at the national competition.
Only High School students can compete in these games as has been the practice for over a decade. Going by the history of winners, the Central Region and Greater Accra is a matchup to look out for.
