Reformers of Prisons Men’s Basketball Team had to wait a while before laying hands on the Benjamin Baafi Trophy for the first ever after an eventful playoff finals series.
Reformers beat Braves of Customs twice to sweep the best of three games series and win the 2021 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I title.
The series clinching came in Game 2 via a 61-55 win over the perennial league champions Customs in a tense game witnessed by a large enthusiastic crowd at the Prisons Court in Cantonments. (Click highlighted text to read game report)
However, Reformers were presented with the league title earlier today on the final day of the 2021 campaign that had the Women’s Division ultimately decided.
Ghana Police Service retained the Matthias Ocloo trophy by beating Reformers 52-30 in Game 3 of the ABL Women’s Division. Police has won the title three times on the bounce. (Click highlighted text to read game report)
A much revamped and reshaped roster improved Reformers Men’s team in a season where Prisons won all regular season and post season games.
In a changed format to accommodate a compressed due to lingering effects of the COVID pandemic, Reformers topped the division with 11 wins and no losses.
