Ghana Center Amida Brimah’s five game double digit rebounding streak has come to an end with the 6 foot 10 inch defender recording nine rebounds for Mets de Guaynabo.
The streak ended in an 88-97 loss to Capitanes Arecibo in Game 2 of the best of seven game finals series in the BSN Basketball League in Puerto Rico. (Click highlighted text to watch full game)
Brimah played 32 minutes and registered 17 points, nine rebounds and three blocks for Mets who trail the series 0-2 heading to Game on Thursday, November 11.
Despite scoring the second most points on the team and rebounding the most for Mets, Arecibo did a good job on rebounding machine Brimah to prevent him from scoring directly and indirectly via second chance opportunities off rebounds.
Brimah was outrebounded by fellow former NBA Center Gustavo Ayon who recorded 12 rebounds; Ayon’s teammate Victor Liz led all players with 25 points.
Arecibo’s bench proved to be decisive in Game 2 as the second unit scored 30 points while Guaynabo’s bench scored 14 points. Brimah joined Guaynabo midway through the regular season and has proven to be a revelation.
