Matters in the 2021 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Playoffs took an embarrassing turn as the contest between Ghana Navy and TUSK Foundation had to be called off due to the absence of light at the Prisons Court.

With 7:33 minutes left to play in the second quarter and Navy leading 23-18, the lights at the venue were expected to be put on to illuminate the playing surface to aid visibility. (Click highlighted text to read game report)

However, all attempts by League Officials to get in touch with the Facility Manager to fix the issue proved futile leaving the Officials with no choice but to call off the game.

The date to continue the game has yet to be determined and Ghana’s biggest basketball portal gathers the frustrating situation with light at the venue has the ABL Playoff schedule up in the air.

This is the second time in this campaign a game has been called off because of this issue with the first forcing the game between Braves of Customs and Tudu Magic in the Men’s Division I Regular Season to be called off.

The reason behind the regular season incident was an electrical fault at the facility; reports reaching Basketballghana.com indicate League Officials paid to get the problem fixed before the playoffs commenced.

On Wednesday, November 3, issues with the Prisons Court lights forced Game One of the Braves of Customs Men’s Division I Finals Series against Reformers to delay for near 30 minutes.
