Almost on the exact second year anniversary of its last loss in the league, defending Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I Champions Braves of Customs have lost again.
The multiple time league winners lost 58-76 to Reformers of Prisons in Game One of the best of three game final series at the Prisons Court in Cantonments on Wednesday, November 3. (Click highlighted text to read game report)
En route to clinching the 2019 title, Braves went unbeaten in the Regular Season and preliminary rounds in the playoffs before suffering a 57-65 loss to Adenta Leopards on November 15, 2019.
However, Braves rallied hard and recorded back to back wins to clinch the title; the 2020 Season was lost to the COVID 19 Pandemic.
Braves never built a consistent run as shots failed to fall due in part to Reformers strong defensive play and players got frustrated by what they deemed as wrong calls by game officials.
Reformers on the other hand, were motivated to get the first of possibly two wins that gets them the 2021 Title and consistently strong throughout the contest.
