After an 11 year stay in office, the tenure of the David Addo-Ashong led Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) Executives has come to an in the aftermath of new personalities voted into office.
The new executives were voted into office at the 2021 GBBA Congress held at the Accra Sports Stadium Media Center this past weekend.
Ato Van-Ess takes over as President after edging Dr. Andre Kwasi-Kumah in the race for the top position in the Association. Van-Ess is the former Western Regional Basketball Association Chairman.
Albert Atutiga’s run as Vice President (Finance and Administration) and Prosper Agbleta’s run as Treasurer has come to an end with Alex Kukula and Aurora Commodore-Toppar taking over those positions respectively.
Vice President (Technical and Development Programmes Iddrisu Ayambire managed to retain his seat by beating Christopher Luguterah by 13 votes to 4 to extend his stay by four more years.
The recently held elections were long overdue and its conclusion means a new group of executives take charge of pushing basketball into the football heavy Ghanaian sports space.
