Newly elected Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) Treasurer Aurora Commodore-Toppar has indicated the peaceful elections held recently were down to the desire of all congress to develop basketball in Ghana.
She made this statement in an interview with Basketballghana.com after getting voted into office at the 2021 GBBA Congress that was held at the Accra Sports Stadium Media Center on Saturday, October 30.
Commodore-Toppar was part of the successful Team Van-Ess that ended up sweeping the available positions in the Association. Ato Van-Ess won the Presidential race ahead of Dr. Andre Kwasi-Kumah. (Click highlighted text to read full results)
“To the glory of God, it went well, very peaceful that’s what we all wanted because even from day one, it was just one theme; we all want the betterment of basketball so at the end of the day, basketball has won” she said.
Commodore-Toppar beat Seth Okine to the Treasurer position by 14 votes to 3 this past weekend; she was the only female congress nominee.
The veteran administrator is well noted for her lead role in organizing Stomp The Yard Basketball Tournament in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
