A handful of personalities representing various bodies in the Ghanaian sports space have praised the recently organized Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) Congress.

GBBA President Ato Van-Ess

The 2021 GBBA Congress was held at the Accra Sports Stadium Media Center in Ghana’s capital, Accra on Saturday, October 30 and had Ato Van-Ess get elected as the new President of the Association.

Van-Ess beat Dr. Andre Kwasi-Kumah to the Presidential seat by 14 votes to 3 with the remaining members of the former’s team also bagging win in their respective positions in a clean sweep. (Click highlighted text for full breakdown of results)

The well conducted event had no incidents of bickering and physical altercations that have characterized so many congresses in other Ghanaian sports association elections including the Ghana Athletics Association.

New GBBA Executives get sworn into office

Jeffrey Manzan-Owusu represented the National Sports Authority and Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Member Albert Frimpong represented GOC President Ben Nunoo-Mensah at the GBBA Congress.

All nominees at the Congress who run for various positions in the Association were seen congratulating each other with the event taking place with no hiccups drawing praise from all gathered including the media.
