Owusu attempts shot in Maryland vs. Mount St. Marys game

Basketballghana.com can confirm American Guard of Ghanaian descent Ashley Owusu has been named to the Nancy Lieberman Award Watch list.

The University of Maryland Guard was included in the list of the award for the best Point Guard in America’s top division Women’s College Basketball season.

The 20 year old 6 foot 0 inch Owusu is set to play out her third or Junior year in the 2021-2022 Season and generated a ton of interest after her impressive second year at Maryland.

After averaging 12 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.5 steals in her first year, Owusu improved to average 17.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists and 1.3 steals in her second year.

The Maryland Terrapins play Penn State at the Xfinity Center on March 6, 2021. Maryland clinched the Regular Season Big Ten Championship with the victory over Penn State.

She also saw an uptick in minutes played by playing out an average of 31.1 minutes in her second year after playing 27 minutes in her first year.

Owusu has already bagged the Ann Meyers Drysdale as the top second year College player Shooting Guard. Maryland is ranked fourth best team heading to the season.
