Accra Basketball League (ABL) Director Alex Kukula has stated the original plan of the league was to have the playoffs staged at the end of October.
He made this statement in the face of widespread concerns the upcoming Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) elections would interrupt matters concerning the league’s postseason games in an interview with Basketballghana.com
The GBBA elections are due to take place on Saturday, October 30 at the Accra Sports Stadium Media Center while the ABL playoffs commence on Tuesday, October 26 with the first round of games running through to October 28.
Addressing the concerns, Kukula said, “These elections thing just came up about a month ago. We had our mind set on having our playoffs around this anyway and we didn’t think the elections would be something that would be disruptive.”
Four teams in the Men’s Division I and four teams in the Women’s Division have qualified to compete in this year’s playoffs.
