Former Western Regional Basketball Association Chairman and 2021 Ghana Basketball Association Presidential Aspirant Ato Van-Ess has labeled the inclusion of Iddrisu Ayambire in his team as a positive addition ahead of the elections.
The GBBA Elections are due to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium Media Center on Saturday, October 30; Ayambire is vying for the Vice President (Technical and Developmental Programmes) Seat on Team Van-Ess.
The prospective GBBA President made the aforementioned statement in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com where he addressed the situation regarding FIBA Technocrat Ayambire due to the latter’s tenure for a decade in the same position in the outgoing administration.
“He’s been around for a very long time, yes but we don’t look at the negative side of it, we look at the positive side of it…you don’t change the entire system, you bring in some new fresh ideas, some fresh hands, to come and work with the old system because for institutional memory, for development purposes, you need to keep at least one or two people” he said before adding
“We need to make sure that this time around, we bring him on board, work with him, support him…we rather need to come on board, work with him, tap into his experience, tap into his qualities, get him to support whatever we are doing and that’s why we believe that he is very critical to whatever we are doing.”
